Question on Corset front busk fastenings

Hello,

I own a Vollers corset that fastens with a busk fastening up the front
and laces up back. I've included a link below. It's my first corset,
and it seems I got the one everyone gets. ^_^ I don't mind, it looks
good.

The thing is, the woman I bought it from seemed to know a lot about
corsets and said that the proper way to fasten the busk was not to do
all the "hook and eye" fastenings up, but do the top and bottom ones
and leave the middle one tucked under the opposite side of the busk
rather than hooked over it, so as not to put too much stress on it (I
hope I am making this clear, it's a little difficult to explain).

This seems odd to me, since surely the busk will warp if I do what she
says, won't it? Or am I just being dense? I have tried it once but it
just seemed wrong, not to mention tricky as hell.

I really hope some seasoned corset wearers can help me out with this
one, it's new corset and the only one I have so I don't want to wreck
it.

Thanks,

~Miss_Godzilla

Does not sound right to me, the WHOLE front busk should be done up! All
the loop/studs should be done up as that is partly what does take the
train, the busk is made to do that. One point to remember when taking
your corset of is to undo the lacing at the back FIRST before unhooking
the loop/studs, failure to do so could THEN damage the busk. The woman
you bought it from may be a seasoned corset wearer, but where she got
that daft idea is beyond me.
